Plan a Visit

Welcome to Shelter Church!

We're thankful you're considering worshipping with us on Sunday morning. It can be intimidating to visit a new place (we've been there!) so we wanted to give you a few details of what to expect.

We meet in the gym of Laurel Park Elementary School.
Though our unusual home has its quirks, we're grateful our presence gives us a chance to love the community here in tangible ways, delivering seasonal treats and supplies for the teachers and staff and providing pre-packed meals for food insecure students to take home each weekend through the Backpack Buddies program.

Our vibe is casual.
You'll find folks wearing jeans and others who like to dress up a bit. Wear what makes you feel comfortable!

When you arrive, feel free to drop passengers off at the covered front entrance (signage will guide you!) or park in the closer visitor lot.

If you have children of any age, feel free to keep them with you in worship or check them in at Shelter Kids for the length of the service. (We recommend arriving around 9:45 for check-in if this is your first week with us!) Our loving and faithful (and trained and background-checked) volunteers will provide age-appropriate activities and lessons based on The Gospel Project's curriculum. Your kids will spend time reading the Bible, singing, crafting, working on memory verses, and of course playing each week. You can find more info about our Kids/Students program here!

Instead of rushing for the door, you'll find we're a chatty bunch - don't be surprised if someone strikes up a conversation with you! You can head out whenever you'd like, but old friends and new often stick around to chat as we all pitch in to fold up chairs and take down sound equipment. Our church community has been described as warm and hospitable, and we're always grateful to meet new people.

We believe God’s Word is timeless yet timely. We generally walk through Books of the Bible preaching verse by verse. Click here to listen to our previous sermons.

Our Shelter Kids ministry is provided for infants through elementary. Our Shelter Students ministry (middle and high school students) meets twice a month. There are always at least two volunteers per room. Before serving, all volunteers are background checked, given training materials, and have shadowed in the classroom. No snacks are provided at this time.
